Sainte Marie Island on the east coast of Madagascar

Some sites, such as the Pirates cemetery or the Saint Pierre cemetery, are full of history… one can get there by the Bayard path, close to the south dam, it is situated opposite the Madam islet. (Name given by Sylvain Roux in honor of the king of France’s daughter), on the right is the first church in Madagascar (1857) and beyond, the island of the Swindlers… reminiscent names that makes one dream about the adventures of the pirates…

On the island of Saint Marie famous pirates settled themselves near the end of the XVI century the likes of Thomas Tew, Thomas White, La Buse, David Williams, etc... Who attacked the ships filled with spices and treasures from the Indies

Jean Jacques and Joelle Ravello set foot in 1982 and opened the "LAKANA" with only 03 bungalows in 1985... Love story... between an island and an establishment...
Of basic infrastructure when created, the hotel evolved throughout the years, on the comfort and installations side, but also on the level of its capacity since it currently counts 16 bungalows; for which, a maximum of natural building materials were used in order to keep its character purposefully turned towards the integration with the "island garden" which is Sainte Marie.
The hotel being located on the western coast of the island, 4 km from the airport and 7 km from Ambodifototra; main city. It benefits from an exceptional situation and you will particularly appreciate a spectacular sunset on the Big Earth.
